Environmental Monitoring at Mt. Chalmers Mining Site
Objective:
The Mt. Chalmers mining site is a copper-gold mine located in Queensland, Australia. It has potential environmental impacts such as dust, noise, and water quality variations that require continuous monitoring.
Problem Statement
The challenge was to collect and transmit data from different locations and environmental conditions across the site. Since the mining area is remote, it has limited power availability and restricted internet access, making reliable data transmission difficult.

SOLUTION DETAILS
We deployed five devices that were designed and developed in-house by our team. These devices monitor various environmental parameters using multiple connectivity options. They are powered by solar energy and transmit telemetry data to a custom IoT Platform developed by our team and hosted in Microsoft Azure.

We developed a web-based dashboard to access and analyze device data.

Our solution demonstrates a cost-effective and reliable environmental monitoring system tailored for remote mining operations. The deployed devices can collect and transmit data from multiple locations under varying environmental conditions using different connectivity options. They also provide self-status and performance reporting.
